Quick Overview:

Follow Noah’s great adventure through the flood and over stormy seas in this level 2 I Can Read, written in the tradition of the popular Adventure Bible. Noah’s Voyage, tells the story of one of the Bible’s most well-known Old Testament heroes and how he bravely followed his faith and trusted God … building an ark and waiting for God’s direction.

When God asks a good man named Noah to build an ark and put his family and two of every animal on it, Noah says, “Yes!” Will Noah get the job done before the big rains come to cover the earth?

This is a Level Two I Can Read! book, which means it’s perfect for children learning to sound out words and sentences. It aligns with guided reading level J and will be of interest to children Pre-K to 4th grade.

Another one of these wonderful books. I keep these books to share with my great nephew who is 8 years old. He loves getting books as much as I do, and these are just great books. I don't have to worry about the message of these books, since they are Bible based stories and follow true to the story. I said this about Queen Esther, but the art work is just amazing. Kudos to David Miles and the Zonderkidz team! 5 stars from this reviewer. (Posted on 7/13/2015)

I really like this series of books for children. I’m glad kids have the option of reading Bible stories. That said, I was a little disappointed in Noah’s Voyage.

While I found the illustrations to be nicely done and to help bring the story alive, I did not care for the beginning of this book.

The story starts with Noah thinking about his voyage on the ark and then it switches to “One day, God came to Noah…” I found this confusing and rather unnecessary. I would have much rather this story just start off with “One day, God came to Noah…” and then just told the story.

I understand that this book is written for kids, but I did not care for the wording when God tells Noah “Please help me.” I think this paints a wrong picture of who God is and what actually happened in the story of Noah. I also think it can lead some kids to believe that God needs us, when in fact, we are the ones who need Him.

Like I said, I know this is a book for children. I enjoyed the illustrations and most of the other parts of this book, but I was disappointed with a few parts of the book. I still like this series, this just isn’t one I will be sharing.

Noah's Voyage is retold in a way that children can relate to and better understand. Geared especially for those children at a level 2 reading level and usually the 4-8 age range. Noah was a very obedient man, he went against many when they didn't believe what he was telling them would soon happen. God spared him, his wife, and his sons along with their spouses. His diligence proves that God rewards those that are obedient to Him, especially when they don't get it or understand. In this somewhat simple story, children can learn what it was like for this man and his family along with their unwavering faith.

Noah's Voyage is the story of Noah's Ark. I like that they gave it a different title just to mix it up a bit! I think sometimes kids get tired of hearing the same Bible stories over and over again so anything that puts a new spin on it as welcome.

Zonderkidz never strays from the facts of the Bible but they just beef it up so to speak and make it more wordy to lengthen it. Stories in the Bible are so short so for an entire book to be dedicated to one, the addition of words and pictures definitely helps!

I always love the pictures from these stories and so does Reed. He just turned seven and I feel they are really age appropriate and appeal to the way his mind works. These days anything that doesn't look like a video game is a plus to me!

Reed read this entire story himself several times. I really like the section at the end "People in Bible Times" and he has gotten into this as well. This one is obviously about Noah and shares a verse, picture and brief description.

Reed's favorite part is the "Did You Know?" because as a seven year old, he doesn't have a whole lot of detailed knowledge of the Bible and this is the perfect age to teach it to him. This one especially appealed to him because it gave lots of details about the ark.

This book is rated for ages 6 - 10 and I'm thrilled that Reed can read it in it's entirety. We might be almost ready for Step 3! (Posted on 4/25/2015)

This is a great retell of Noah building his ark with great pictures from David Miles. I know most kids love hearing about all the animals going in a huge boat but I like to discuss with my kids the importance of following God's directions and being obedient to his calling. There are going to be times when the world thinks you are crazy when you do certain things that God asks you to do. For example when our family moved from Wisconsin to Iowa it really did not make a lot of sense but we knew it was where God was positioning us and calling us. Or the time I quit my full time job after having my daughter when my husband did not have a good paying job... but truly God directed us to be obedient in this calling.
I want my kids to truly see how hard it must have been for Noah as the rest of the world laughed and mocked him but then how great his reward for following God's directions! It truly is a great lesson to learn, so make sure you get beyond the animals in this book.
Thanks Zondervan for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review an all opinions are 100% mine. Find this book for only $3.99 on Zondervan. (Posted on 4/25/2015)

I can read books published by ZonderKidz can help your child develop good reading skills while encouraging their spiritual growth.

“Noah’s Voyage” again tells in easy to understand language the age-old story of how Noah tried to warn the people of the flood, the building of the ark, putting two of every animal into the ark, God shutting the door of the ark, the flood and finding dry land. All of this culminates in a beautifully illustrated rainbow, complete with God’s promise.

The illustrations by David Mills are sure to delight even the youngest child as you read them or have them read to you.

I would highly recommend this book for any child ages 4-8

There are several books in the I Can Read! / Adventure Bible series, and Noah's Voyage is one of the newest releases. Our family does not own the Adventure Bible, NIV or the Adventure Bible for Early Readers, so I cannot compare these books to those (to see if the content is duplicated). We do, however, own both the Adventure Bible for Toddlers and the Adventure Bible Storybook, and I can tell you that the wording and illustrations are not duplicated across these three editions. The books in the I Can Read! / Adventure Bible series are worded with simpler phrasing and shorter sentences than you will find in the Adventure Bible Storybook.

Noah's Voyage is a re-telling of the story of the flood/Noah's Ark. The original story can be found in the Bible in the book of Genesis. The re-telling of this story is done well, is easy to understand, and is accompanied by big, colorful illustrations.

At the end of Noah's Voyage is a page containing "People in Bible Times" (which has an illustration of Noah and a dove accompanied by Genesis 6:18) and "Did You Know?" (which gives details about the size of the ark and what it was made of).

The I Can Read! / Adventure Bible series are categorized as reading level 2 ("Reading with Help") and the stories do not feel "choppy" like you might find in some learn-to-read books. With a retail price under $4 per book, I find these books to be a great value.
