Quick Overview:

God’s Great Creation is a level two I Can Read! retelling of the familiar Bible story of creation. This book is part of the I Can Read! series based on the bestselling Adventure Bible.

“Man and woman had been created in God’s image …

that meant people were extra special to God.”

God spent seven days creating his world. He made the stars and the moon, the plants and the trees, and the birds and the fish. On the last day he made Adam and Eve—people like you! God loved everything that he made. But one day Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

This level 2 I Can Read! book is designed for newly independent readers and is based on the Adventure Bible—the #1 Bible for kids!

About the Contributor(s) David Miles

Born and raised in Michigan, David spent his childhood sloshing through creek beds, climbing trees, and creating numerous baked goods.  That spirit of adventure and curiosity often finds its way into his illustrations through quirky characters and hidden surprises.  After spending a decade in Philadelphia and New York pursuing his artistic dreams, David has moved back to the familiar surroundings of Michigan.  Now, when he's not drawing and painting he still enjoys a good romp through the woods.

We have read many kids Bibles which include many favorite Bible stories. This I Can READ! book does a great job at extending the story to create more discussions with relating to our own lives. Eve gets tempted and being able to sit and discuss temptations and punishments after making a bad choice was a great connection! My daughter is also turning into a book worm and becoming a better reader each and every day. (Posted on 10/16/2014)

The kids Bible we are reading right now goes through all of the major popular Bible stories starting at creation. Each story is just a page though, so it's basically an overview. That's why I like these Adventure Bible stories to read in correlation with them. It gives much more detail, is straight from the Bible, and speaks to kids at their level.

The story goes through creation until the fall when Adam and Eve first sin. I actually read this to my kids right after I had a situation with Paige. She was not behaving or listening in the grocery store. I told her if she didn't listen to my warning she would not get her "special treat" after lunch. This is what works with Paige right now. Unfortunately, this time it did not and I had to follow through.

Reading this story and talking about Eve taking the forbidden fruit was the perfect parallel for what I had just dealt with. I especially loved at the end how it says "But God did not stop loving Adam and Eve." Paige is very remorseful and is pretty devastated when she gets in trouble. She cries and apologizes over and over so it's a very important message for her to hear that she is loved no matter how much she messes up, by me and by God! (Posted on 9/14/2014)
