From New York Times bestselling author comes The Beautiful Pretender!

After inheriting his title from his brother, the margrave has two weeks to find a noble bride. What will happen when he learns he has fallen for a lovely servant girl in disguise?

The Margrave of Thornbeck has to find a bride, fast. He invites ten noble born ladies who meet the king’s approval to be his guests at Thornbeck Castle for two weeks, a time to test these ladies and reveal their true character.

Avelina has only two instructions: keep her true identity a secret and make sure the margrave doesn’t select her as his bride. Since the latter seems unlikely, she concentrates on not getting caught. No one must know she is merely a maidservant, sent by the Earl of Plimmwald to stand in for his daughter, Dorothea.

Despite Avelina’s best attempts at diverting attention from herself, the margrave has taken notice. And try as she might, she can’t deny her own growing feelings. But something else is afoot in the castle. Something sinister that could have far worse—far deadlier—consequences

I've heard GREAT things about Melanie's books, but until now I hadn't read one! After reading The Beautiful Pretender I am going to be one of the ones to praise her writing style and imaginative plot! I CAN'T WAIT to read more from Melanie! Beauty & The Beast has long been one of my favorite fairy tales. A bookish, somewhat odd girl finding love in spite of trials....who doesn't like that?! ;) But I have to say that Melanie has made it EVEN BETTER! A lot of the key points in B&tB are threaded throughout, but she has written completely unique and different circumstances, characters, and settings for the plot to play out! I DEVOURED this book! :D And would happily read it again and again! Filled with fabulous and lovable characters and amazing twists and turns this is an adventure you don't want to miss out on!
I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this Christian Beauty & The Beast!!!

The king of The Holy Roman Empire has suggested Reinhart Stolten, Margrave of Thornbeck get married. The ladies suggested by the king are invited for 2 weeks and submitted to “tests’ to allow Reinhart to chose a wife. Lady Fronicka wants to marry Reinhart to get Thornbeck for her father. Avelina is sent to take Lady Dorothea’s place and not let anyone know who she is or let Reinhart chose her. Reinhart shows favor to Avelina and her life is put in danger by Lady Fronicka.

The story is a historical fiction based in 1363. This is a good book to curl up with and just get lost. There is suspense, who will Reinhart choose to be his wife, will Avelina be found out and who is behind the bad things happening. Avelina prays for Lady Magdalen to be the one chosen, she prays for Reinhart’s safety. She stays strong when times get tough regardless of what others think of her. The story progressed quickly, some parts of the story were easy to predict but some were a total surprise. I would recommend this book to young adults and adults alike.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. (Posted on 5/14/2016)
