It's a tough task this time of year to keep young children focused on the true reason we celebrate Christmas. The decorations and pretty packages under the tree just add to the excitement of the season, but sometimes in all the hype leading up to the blessed day we lose focus.

That's just where the five princesses find themselves. The situation concerns their father the king but before he can do something about it a crisis in the kingdom arises and he must go and deal with it. Not surprising but that very crisis is what brings about realization that their priorities have been misplaced.

My granddaughters and I have been enjoying these lovely Princess Parables books. Through the use of a delightful cast of characters, the writers bring to light an important portion of Scripture in a parable type of format. This time the reference is from Luke 12:15-21. In this portion of Scripture Jesus is reminding His followers to be on guard against all types of greed.

My favorite part of the book is the ending where 'The Princesses' Journal' is located. It reminds the reader that Christmas is a time of giving. We are celebrating the fact that God was willing to give His one and only Son to be an atonement for us. The authors remind us that "Christmas is a time of giving and reflecting Jesus to others." What a great reminder for our children (and ourselves) that it is wonderful to celebrate this season, but we must always keep in perspective Who we are celebrating.

I highly recommend this and all of the Princess Parables books to those with young girls. They have a wonderful message packaged in all the wonder of being a princess.

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review. (Posted on 12/17/2016)

The holiday season is upon us. It seems that each year we are getting further and further away from it’s true meaning. We have forgotten about the most precious gift that has been given to us – Jesus Christ. Instead our thoughts are often focused on the decorations, parties and Santa Claus. “A Royal Christmas to Remember” reminds us what is really important.
“A Royal Christmas to Remember” is the story of Princesses Joy, Grace, Faith, Charity and Hope as they discover the true meaning of Christmas. The castle is decorated in all it’s Christmas finery and the girls are bubbling with excitement over the gifts that they will receive Christmas morning.  Their excitement is cut short when a group of bandits storm the castle. The girls pray to God for courage and safety. Will the girls escape? Will they discover the true meaning of Christmas?

“A Royal Christmas to Remember” is a reminder to us all about what is really important at Christmas time.  Just like the Princesses’ in the story we often get caught up in the “Holiday Extras”. Parents seem to be focused on picking out the perfect gift for their loved one and children are focused on Santa and the gifts he brings.  It is all to easy to lose focus on the greatest gift of all…Jesus Christ.

The book is based on Luke 12: 15-21, the story of the Rick Young Ruler. The end of the book is “The Princesses’ Journal” and it explains the connection between the story of the Princesses’ and the Bible story. The girls were focused on the here and now…what Christmas would bring them. They had forgotten about God and his greatest gift to us, His only Son. It wasn’t until bandits attacked their castle and home that they remembered what is most important.
The story reminds us that not only do we need to tell others about God’s love for us, but that we also need to show it through our actions. Our friends and families need to see it reflected in how we live.

The book is geared toward girls between the ages of 4 through 8. Younger children will enjoy having this book read aloud to them, while older girls will enjoy reading it on their own. The illustrations are full colour and add a wonderful visual element to the story.
“A Royal Christmas to Remember” is a fun story to share with your little girl during the Christmas season. It would make a wonderful gift to open on Christmas Eve and share at bedtime.

My 9 year old daughter has loved this series for awhile now and this book did not disappoint! We truly enjoyed the princesses heart change during the story. They were once focused on their presents but then they were selfless and gave their gifts away because of the big problem within the story.

There is drama and action in this hard covered story book. Pictures are delightful and the author keeps you turning the pages with some on the edge of your seat problems the princesses faced.

If you are looking for more Christmas stories this season then pick this one up! It is not just for girls as my 5 year old son loved it too.

Thanks Zondervan for sending me this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I was not paid for this review and all opinions expressed are 100% mine. (Posted on 10/16/2016)

The author of The Princess Parables is at it again with this sweet story about Christmas. What would Christmas be like without at least one princess story? The story takes place just after a blanket of fresh fallen snow with the castle all decked out for Christmas. The princesses were excited because Christmas was only one day away.

But as the fans of The Princess Parables know there is always a lesson to be learned by the princesses and this story is no different. Soon the princesses and their family are in utter danger. They need God to send someone to rescue them and He does. After a very rough and trying experience the princesses learn the true meaning of Christmas. This memorable Christmas will not soon be forgotten and the princess were able to share it with those around them.

“A Royal Christmas to Remember” was sent to me by Zonderkidz - a division of Zondervan Publishing – free of charge, in exchange for my honest and not coerced review.
“A Royal Christmas to Remember” is a Christian children’s fiction picture book, written by Jeanna Young and Jacqueline Johnson. The gorgeous pictures in this book were done by Omar Aranda.
This story begins with the princess sisters being all selfish and self-absorbed. They cared only about THEIR Christmas. Then, they were robbed and tied up in their kitchen, while their daddy was away, fighting the marauders who were pillaging the village. The princesses change their attitudes…But, as always, you’re going to have to read the book to find out what all happened. I really don’t want to spoil it for you.
I also like “The Princesses’ Journal” at the end of the story, that tells about the Bible story of the Rich Man, found in Luke 12:15-21.
I do recommend this book for young readers and for parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, and others who read to little ones.
