One clutzy advice columnist.

One champion cowboy.

And an entire small town rooting for love.

Advice columnist Maggie Hope never dreamed she’d be shaking hands with champion horse trainer Tru Monahan over a high-stakes bet, especially one that involves horses. And saddles. And everything else a city girl like Maggie feels uncomfortable around. But after filling in for a coworker and interviewing the handsome cowboy, she finds herself doing just that. Anything to save her advice column.

Despite Maggie’s two left feet, Tru is bound and determined to bring out her inner cowgirl by teaching her to ride a cutting horse, trained to separate cattle from the rest of the herd. While her riding improves, their attraction intensifi es, but Tru knows he can never let her into his heart—for her own good.

In Wishing Springs, a community full of meddling but well-meaning townsfolk, Maggie discovers the home she’s always longed for. But she’s holding something back—a secret that could destroy her reputation and any future she’s ever hoped for with the cowboy she mightust love.

Overall Rating
Maggie Hope, city slicker through and through, is an advice columnist for the Huston Tribune’s column, “Gotta Have Hope”. She definitely is not a TV reporter which quickly becomes evident as she tries to fill in for her sick friend, Amanda Jones, star host of “Wake up With Amanda.” Maggie agrees to interview cowboy and horse trainer, Tru Monahan. There on-camera chemistry is so thick you can see the sparks. Tru bets Maggie he can teach her to ride a cutting horse and Maggie’s boss sees it as a way to launch Maggie’s career and Tru’s sponsers see it as a way to line everyone’s pockets with money. Everyone but Maggie seems to forget she is a city-slicker and has never been on a horse much less been inside of a barn.

Maggie didn’t grow up with a normal childhood. At an early age she learned she had to take life head-on and that is just what she does with Tru Monahan and the town of Whispering Spring.

I was captivated from the first page and fell in love with Maggie’s character well before the end of the first chapter. In spite of her messed up childhood, she pulled her life together and ended up with a spunky attitude and a positive outlook. This book had me laughing one minute, crying the next and boiling mad the next. There were times I just wanted to put Tru and Maggie in a bag and shake some sense into them. There is a little suspense, some romance and a whole lot about love, acceptance and forgiveness. You will learn that sometimes letting go is an act of unconditional love. This was such an entertaining book, I couldn’t put it down, so read it in one afternoon. I love Christian fiction and this is one of the best!
